Make a nest-making box!

AKA The Birdie Care Package

We now have 3 bird families living in our back tree. Two of them are in houses and one in a nest. They all seem to be some kind of finch and I love them!

So this fun project is inspired by an idea I saw from Martha Stewart. This is fun for the kids to help out, too.

If you have a sturdy shallow wooden box that's what's recommended. I just cut the bottom portion off a brown paper gift bag. This turned out to be a great idea because I could squeeze it in between some branches so it would stay in the tree.

Then just fill it up with goodies! Cotton balls and shredded paper are great items for nest-making. We also threw in some dryer lint, a bunch of skinny sticks we found around the yard, and a couple wild flowers.

I can't wait to check back and see what was used!
